The Coca-Cola Foundation and Yayasan Obor Tani (YOT) officially launched the Embung Tremas water conservation facility to address critical water scarcity in the [local community/region] and bolster local agriculture.
Securing Water Resilience Through Embung Tremas
The Embung Tremas, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation, is an important local infrastructure project designed to provide a stable water supply for irrigation, helping local farms increase their productivity and mitigate climate change impacts.
“Water is the foundation of life and prosperity. By securing a reliable water source, we are not just supporting agriculture; we are building a more resilient community in Tremas. This embung is the cornerstone upon which future economic and social development can be built,” said Pratomo, Executive Director of Obor Tani Foundation.

A Solution for Organic Waste
Complementing the water facility, Coca-Cola Foundation Indonesia and BenihBaik.comhave also launched an innovative organic waste management solution to the community. The initiative is transforming waste from the community into high-value protein for animal feed and fertilizer for crops. This helps create a more sustainable system that reduces landfill waste, generates new economic value, and aligns with broader environmental efforts.
“In partnership with BenihBaik, we are introducing a technology that not only seeks to help address an environmental problem but also aims to empower the community with new skills and economic opportunities,” said Triyono Prijosoesilo, Senior Director of Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability at PT Coca-Cola Indonesia and Chairman of Coca-Cola Foundation Indonesia.
“BenihBaik.com is honored to be part of this impactful collaboration. The waste management project is an innovative way to address waste issues while providing direct economic benefits for the Tremas community,” said Andy F Noya, Founder of BenihBaik.com.

Building a Vision for Ecotourism
Together, these initiatives create a powerful model for community development, with a long-term vision to establish the Embung Tremas as a central spot for local ecotourism. By combining improved water access with more sustainable waste management, the partnership aims to leverage the region’s enhanced natural resources to create new, sustainable livelihoods for its residents.
Indrata Nur Bayuaji, Regent of Pacitan appreciated this collaboration, “This embung and the new organic waste management system are more than just infrastructure; they are catalysts for transformation. They offer innovative solutions to our environmental challenges and open up new economic opportunities for our residents. We see this as an important foundation for developing Tremas’s unique potential as an agrotourism and ecotourism destination in the future.”
For decades, Coca-Cola Foundation Indonesia has proudly partnered with communities like Tremas to create long-lasting, positive change. This initiative also supports Indonesia’s national environmental targets, particularly Presidential Regulation No. 97/2017, which aims to significantly reduce and manage waste by 2025.
